After reporting a 400% increase in pre-tax profits to March 2020, ME Group has been crowned the winner at this year’s Fastest 50 Awards.

The prestigious Ward Hadaway North West Fastest 50 Awards, in association with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, celebrate growth, innovation, and the commercial achievements of North West businesses.

Based on financial data filed with Companies House, the list ranks the fifty best performing privately-owned companies which have consistently increased turnover whilst remaining profitable.

The Cheadle based business ranked number 1 after reporting pre-tax profits of £13.1m on a turnover of £36.45m in the financial year ending March 2020.

The company, which began trading in 2017, provides an end-to-end platform for complex consumer disputes.

Its revolutionary proprietary technology enables solicitors to determine whether consumers have a valid case, for which it then provides funding.

The business also announced a partnership with a related investment company, Forbes Ventures, to offer the first securitisation of UK consumer litigation funding.

Speaking about the big win, ME Group’s CEO, Rob Cooper said: ‘We are delighted to have won the North West Fastest Growing Business Award.

‘Since its inception in 2017, ME Group has achieved continued strong growth and this award is testament to the hard work and commitment of everybody in our business.

‘The award recognises our growth pre-Covid-19, and like many businesses, we have faced unprecedented challenges as a result of the global pandemic.

‘We are very fortunate and grateful to have an amazing team of people who have been resilient in the face of difficult trading conditions, and we are equally grateful for the exceptional support and patience shown by our suppliers and partners as we have sought to navigate the difficulties that Covid-19 has brought.

‘We look forward to a very exciting future as we continue to deliver innovation and expand our litigation funding offering to facilitate increasing resolution for consumers facing complex legal problems.  Our continued investment in the business, including distributed ledger technology (“DLT”), together with our strategic partnerships put us in a very strong position from which to continue the growth of the Group.’

The Fastest 50 list is being published as usual after a decision by the organisers to continue to celebrate these successes despite the impact of the pandemic, in an attempt to continue to motivate and inspire those operating in the North West business community.

Paul Johnson, Executive Partner of Ward Hadaway’s Manchester Office, said, ‘Congratulations to ME Group and every company in the Ward Hadaway North West Fastest 50 for 2021 for their tremendous achievements.

‘This year’s Fastest 50 list, as always, boasts many management teams with an unwavering passion to succeed who have created high growth, profitable businesses. It’s this spirit, and the business success that it creates, that we are delighted to celebrate, particularly this year during such a challenging time for businesses.’
